How does learning about history through the stories of people who lived the experiences impact authentic learning? How does storytelling help preserve memory, explain our present, and imagine our future?
You are to interview an older (at least 65 years of age) family or community member to find out what life was like when he or she was younger. Use interview questions generated in class and record the interview. Submit a word-processed transcript of the interview questions and answers.
Following the interview, you are asked to: compose a story based on the experiences of the person you interviewed and dramatize the story in a way that best makes the person’s story come alive. (Strategies for dramatizing your interviewee’s story
will be discussed in class.)
Utilizing either Microsoft Moviemaker, iMovie or a Web2.0 Tool, create a Digital Story to share with your audience.
